Our Community Consultative Committee (CCC) met on Wednesday 2 March 2022 at the Biloela Bowls Club. Almost thirty local representatives, business owners, and community members engaged in this crucial committee.
Our thanks go to the Bowls Club for the use of their facilities and for the sandwiches.
The committee’s independent chair is Calliope local and business owner, Peter Masters. Peter has previously represented the community in other major projects and is actively involved in local sporting organisations. His extensive experience in the region’s primary industries will be invaluable to the CCC. Peter is looking forward to engaging with the Banana Shire community and supporting the consultation process.
EDF Renewables Australia CEO Dave Johnson, opened the meeting with EDF’s goals to utilise local industry and develop community projects. Project Director, Kyle Russell, followed with an update on the Banana Range Wind Farm project, and the next steps toward implementation. Finally, Community Engagement Officer, Clare Wilkes, explained her plan to create legacy projects using the community fund.
EDF Renewables has allocated $100,000 per year for community projects from beginning of construction as part of their commitment to the community. The CCC will advise on suitability of initiatives that will most benefit the community. The Community Consultative Committee will continue to meet regularly until construction begins in 2024 when frequency of meetings may increase.
